From JavaScript in the browser to native Godot games

Air Fireman, first shipped in 2013 with Impact.js, now has a paid Godot remaster for macOS and Windows. Sheep Dog joins it as a short native cozy title. The free classic stays online.

For years my games lived in the browser. That was the point: open a tab, play, no install. In 2013 I shipped Air Fireman with Impact.js — a wildfire arcade where you pilot a water bomber, fight wind, and try to save the forest. It still runs today, free, in any modern browser.

Today I’m announcing something different: the first native desktop builds of that line of work, rebuilt with Godot 4, sold as proper apps for macOS and Windows.

Why leave pure JavaScript?

Browser games age in a particular way. Engines and toolchains freeze; packaging for desktops becomes a maze of wrappers; performance and input feel never quite match a native executable. Impact.js gave me a complete game in 2013. Keeping that classic alive as a free web build is a feature, not a bug.

For a remaster, I wanted:

  • A modern open engine with real export pipelines
  • Desktop controls, windowing, and installable zips
  • Room for new content without fighting a 2013 stack

Godot fit that: readable scenes and scripts, solid 2D, and first-class macOS + Windows export. The free classic stays where it always was. The remaster is a separate product.

Air Fireman — remaster (€4.99)

Same fantasy: one plane, wind, water, forest on fire. New engine, refreshed presentation, and content that was hard to evolve in the old stack:

  • Campaign with a guided first level
  • Procedural maps (from Training to Inferno, plus custom profiles)
  • Stylized historical fire scenarios
  • French and English UI
  • Builds for macOS (universal) and Windows 64-bit

Price: €4.99 one-time on Payhip.
Still free: the 2013 Impact.js classic at airfireman.noematic.eu and on the Air Fireman product page.

The browser game is not the remaster. Buy only if you want the native Godot edition.

Sheep Dog — native cozy mini (€1.99)

Alongside the remaster, I’m shipping Sheep Dog: a short herding game built natively in Godot from day one. Guide the dog, gather the flock, close the gate, chase gold / silver / bronze times — twelve campaign trials plus endless maps. No farming meta, no multiplayer: a coffee-priced session.

Price: €1.99 on Payhip. Same platforms: macOS and Windows.

What’s next

  • Linux builds may follow if people ask.
  • A web export of the Godot remaster is possible later; any full swap of the free classic on the site waits on feedback after this desktop launch.
  • In the same universe, Fire Command is a separate command-layer game — not included with Air Fireman.

If you played the 2013 browser original, thank you. If you’re discovering these titles now: the free classic is still the fastest way to try Air Fireman; the paid remasters and minis are for anyone who wants a native app on the desktop.
